AUGMENTED EFFECTS OF SENSORY INTEGRATION THERAPY AND VIRTUAL REALITY ON MOVEMENT AND BALANCE ISSUES IN CEREBRAL PALSY: A PILOT STUDY

Background: Cerebral Palsy (CP) causes many sensory and motor deficits in children which may lead to deterioration of their functional activities daily life. Effective interventions are required be worked on, can improve the movement status such subjects. Objective: To determine effects integration therapy (SIT) addition with virtual reality (VR) Conventional Physical Therapy subjects cerebral palsy. Methods: A Pilot randomized control trial (RCT) was conducted at Pakistan Railway Hospital Rawalpindi from July December 2019. The n=26 were recruited after fulfilment inclusion criteria; male female diagnosed spastic CP subjectswith age 5-12 years, gross function classification system (GMFC) level I-II, independently walk ≥ 5 meters, spasticity lower limb <3 on Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), able understand commands play gamesThe randomly divided into group A, receiving conventional physical CPT), while B received only CPT). given for 6 weeks assessments baseline, 3rd 6th weeks. outcome measures measurement (GMFM) assessment functions, pediatric balance scale (PBS) 2-minute test (2MWT) mobility. analysis done via SPSS 21 ANOVA applied. Results: mean study participants 7.52±2.25 years. showed significant interaction (p<0.001) between intervention time. Between analyses by one way ANOVA, has shown difference GMFM standing, walking/running total along PBS 2 MWT. Conclusion: Augmentation improving mobility palsy as compared reality.
